Excellent Tool!

Buy from Amazon to ensure that you get a genuine Lisle puller (make sure it comes on enclosed, branded card, so you know it’s the real McCoy) . Feels some got replicas. If paying $10 for that $20+ tool, Ideally tips you off that you are more likely to not get a Lisle. With that said, this puller did the job on an orig pitman arm on the ’86 CJ7. That arm was merged ti the output shaft. Broke my obsolete, trusty puller trying to remove that arm. Did not think I would ever get the arm off (puller w/ heat in addition to a three-pounder). This specific one, alternatively, made simple operate of it. Full force by using my 1/2″ impact gun (awaited it to fail because of the amount of force used (should not do what ever I did)). It didn’t fail.

Lisle for the succeed! Very satisfied.

A “must have” tool!

I at first purchased this while I assumed I was likely to replace a steering box over a friend’s ’91 Jeep, but appeared being without apply it.

I have tried personally this to create lower and upper ball joints, and tie fishing fishing rod ends–basically every factor except a pitman arm!Just about everyone has already been through it….banging away on your golf ball joint or tie fishing fishing rod finish obtaining a large, oily hammer and resulting in a variety of destruction. When the hammer does not work properly, you engineer gadgets with bottle jacks along with an a great deal larger hammer and merely cause much more destruction. That can be a does not work, you have to do the unthinkable–you decide on your pickle fork. You heard that right, that evil forked part of steel that’s mushroomed on a single finish from you beating it mercilessly and effective gouges and marks across the forked finish where it’s sculpted apart unthinkable steering parts.Do your favor and purchase this. Used to do formerly dread ball joints along with tie rods until I received this. An easy tool that leaps individuals actions apart effortlessly. Hit it upon an impact gun and things get much easier. .. You’ll convey a gold chain inside it and then use it around your neck. This is usually a well-built tool from Lisle who makes excellent tools. It’s kind of wider when compared to a handful of other similar tools I have encounter designed for purchase, nonetheless it’s dimensions haven’t caused any difficulty personally. Convey a little grease across the threads which tool lasts you years. There’s two kinds of mechanics nowadays: Those who purchased it, and people that will bought it.

Worked Great

Used to remove the Pitman arm on a 2001 Jeep Wrangler (TJ) – fit and worked great. The 41900 I received is silver not green as pictured but it’s a tool not a fashion accessory.

I drenched the shaft on power-steering pump/pitman arm and nut with Deep Creep daily a couple of days before. Release nut, leave the nut on the thread or more in situation the Pitman pops served by pressure, (in case your lounging under it, your entire day might be destroyed) tighten lower the puller striking the Pitman arm having a two or three lb hammer, you shouldn’t be afraid allow it a great whack. Another tip: Before you begin, look into the torque spec for the vehicle – you might need a torque wrench which has a 200 foot lb range (185 foot lbs for TJ).

Lisle Pitarm puller is easy for me

I’ve got a 1995 s10 using the steering box dripping in the pit arm shaft, So, I want a great puller, and I am glad which i spent the additional money and purchased Lisle. I additionally went purchase the recommendations of others on amazon . com with this puller. I consider the cheaper pit pullers @ harbor freight and auto store for 15 dollars, plus they don’t look has thick has got the Lisle. It required a 33mm socket for that nut if anybody must know, I already were built with a builder 1/2 in drive breaker bar also it organized well,( I do not think an inexpensive breaker bar holds up) and that i to utilize a 4 foot. lengthy pipe around the breaker bar and together with blaster around the nut and pit arm. Well the nut was the toughest factor to obtain off. I applied just a little grease to spread out finish from the pit arm shaft to assist the Lisle turn simpler. The pit arm came off simple for me.

Incredibly strong puller! A must for avid DIY mechanic tool boxes!

To preface this review, I am an enthusiastic DIY person. I’d rather put money into tools and time researching to accomplish repairs rather than pay another person. My new garage project is really a ’01 Right Hands Drive Jeep Cherokee which my sister purchased for her postal route. A lot of maintenance products have to be performed (AC overhaul, Power Steering, Rear Primary Seal, Electrical issues, along with a little body work) but they are within my abilities.

I spent three days trying to take away the Pitman Arm to be able to switch the seals and prevent a terrible leak which may drain the machine in a day. I drenched the factor in PB Blaster, hit the edges and also the puller secure having a 3lb sledge, applied heat, and just were able to bend the two pullers rented from Autozone and Advance Auto. Nothing labored until this showed up. I took it off in the standard, “No Frills”, packaging and applied some synthetic grease towards the threads simply to ensure everything would go easily. Then i fit it around the power steering gear box that was within my vise and used my 1/2″ impact to tighten the secure around the tool. ten seconds and POP! The Pitman Arm was loose!

For those curious as to why I just didn’t cut it off and buy a new one….
I wasn’t in a position to cut the pitman arm off because of standard LHD pitman arms being keyed differently (a couple of levels difference) and so i REALLY needed this to operate. I understand this since i purchased one which was designed to fit from Amazon . com and compared the 2.

Pointless to state, this can stay in my continuously growing arsenal of tools. Even when it never get’s recycled, it’s saved me the headache and cash of getting to source a substitute from the cost dealership or overseas.

Worth the money

Purchased this to get rid of the pitman arm on the Mercedes 450SL. Fit well and labored perfectly. The Mercedes pitman is on really tightly and takes some real tension to have it to get rid of. It made it happen effortlessly. Method I made use of ended up being to tighten the strain around the puller after which tap the pitman having a small hammer. Then tighten the tool a bit more and tap again (not necessarily hammering on, simply to tap and shock the arm loose). Repeated might it required the pitman served by no work. Worth the investment to achieve the correct tool rather of bending individuals cheap claw type pullers trying to get it done. Oh, one tip I’d make is the fact that I place a little anti seize compound around the threads from the puller secure and ran the secure interior and exterior the tool by hands before utilizing it. Just easily wiped from the excess anti seize (you do not really need a ton) prior to getting in and taking advantage of the tool. Threaded easily out and in under tension or otherwise.

There is no way that any other puller would have pulled that pitman arm off but this did like a champ

I’ve an earlier ”99 Ford Superduty diesel. I desired to get rid of the pitman arm. There’s not a way that every other puller might have pulled that pitman arm off however this did just like a champion. Don’t misunderstand me, it had been still a PITA to obtain the pitman arm off, however i never might have become them back whether it weren’t with this tool. This can be a quality oral appliance the housing is steel and never aluminum. Make sure to place a some oil or grease around the threaded shaft before you begin working. I can not repeat the same for that tie rods though. The tool stored sliding off and wouldn’t separate the tie rods.

The right tool for the job, a knuckle saver!

Fought with a pitman arm for an hour, realized it would win the battle, so I order this puller, waited 2 days. (This was on a car that sits in the garage most of the time, and I was replacing the steering box also, so no big deal) Received the puller, removed the arm in about one minute. The right tool for every job !

Needed ground down to fit.

Popped it right off after some grinding. If I didn’t have a bench grinder I would have been screwed. Took off maybe 1/8″ on one side to fit my 2006 ram 3500.

2006 F350 6.0 pitman arm removed with ease!

It effectively removed the pitman arm from my 2006 F350 4×4 6. Powerstroke. I’ve the 8″ Procomp lift, which utilizes a dropped pitman arm. I needed to remove my old steering gear box using the pitman attached. In my specific situation, it didn’t slide backward and forward pieces so I needed to carefully clearance the area between your gear box and also the pitman arm having a grinder. I only removed about 1/16″ of fabric. Next I greased the threades of the oral appliance it tucked in position. I didn’t make use of an impact gun, when i read some buyers “broke” the tool. Under one minute later I’d effectively sprang the pitman arm loose and prepped so that it is placed on the brand new gear box. It save me a lot of money and time. If you’re a DIY Powerstroke Diesel Guy (or Woman) I recommend adding it for your collection!

Works on chevys too

Bought this to exchange pitman and idler arm on my small 01′ 2500hd with 180k. Labored fine within the idler arm while you pull the bracket and also the arm from the truck. The pitman arm I stop. You can get the right size secure and do the installation within the puller backwards to obvious the mix member(then release it instead of tighten) for that pitman.

Didn’t work on my 2000 F350

Bought this to exchange the steering gears on my small 2000 F350. I attempted to make this happen for around 3 hrs without any luck. The spacing was too wide and did not focus on my Pitman arm, and also the width from it was too thick to slot in between your Pitman arm and also the steering gears. I lent a puller that looked like this just sizd smaller sized also it sprang from the Pitman arm try. Appears just like a well-built product, just do not attempt and employ it on the ’99-’03 Super Duty!

Worked Great!! 2012 F350

This pitman arm puller fit my 2012 f350 srw pitman arm perfectly. I desired to get rid of my pitman arm during installing a 6″ suspension lift and that i could get it done in under one minute. Negligence my lift installation which i dreaded probably the most, switched out is the easiest. Only a tip, apply certain grease around the threads of the puller to really make it simpler to show. I placed the puller around the pitman arm and tightened it lower as tight when i might get it with my 3/8 drive ratchet. I gave the pitman arm a couple of whacks having a hammer, then added a bit of pipe to my ratchet for leverage. under ten seconds later, the pitman arm was off. It saved me time and effort. I recommend it!

Successfully removed the steering stabilizer from my 2000 XJ.

Effectively removed the steering stabilizer from my 2000 XJ. After 18 years on the highway that’s no small task. It did bend a bit so i am removing 1 star, however pitman arms may come out a little simpler therefore it is not an issue.
